Sampling, Creativity, Copyrights

This is a really nice video i found on Nerdcore (again). This Documentation features a lot of the artists who created the music i grew up to. When i got my first sampler in 1997 it opened the door to making music for me, since i can´t play an instrument. Anyways i think i have an ear for what sounds good and what does not. 15 years of djing kind of prove that. The article on nerdcore also links to another movie called "RiP - A Remix Manifesto" which is also worth watching. And for the Superfreak / Can´t Touch This thing, here´s a statement of Rick James.

Inside Outside - Streetart Documentation Online

Many, if not all of you know streetart. I just found this link on Nerdcore and after watching the movie i must say, it expresses a lot of my opinion about that art. Also it gives you an insight of the motivation of the artist, which can be just a smile of someone passing by or just catching people attention for a second. For me that´s where the new galleries are: in the streets! It´s like the internet for art. Everybody can express themselves. Only thing to acknowledge is the lack of respect, because there´s plenty of space. If you like streetart, be sure to visit arrrgh which can be seen a lot in Hannover where i am from!

On The Beatbox - Vinyl Release

Imag0074

Look what i found in the mail! Yes, fresh from the pressing plant it´s the first vinyl release of Mr. Konfuze and me "On The Beatbox". This one started out as routine on our "Catch The Beat" mixtape. Since we only released a CD instead of both CD and tape it was a leftover that we didn´t want to waste and became the kick-off for our musical project. By now we got nine tracks finished and are working on more to have our double vinyl release in autumn 2010. This one will be officially available on febuary 20th at your favorite record store. Be sure to support us and buy this piece of vinyl, since there won´t be a digital release!

Musicflatrate? Nope, but really close!

This is as close to a music flatrate as it gets! Spotify gives registred users access to all major labels music and numerous indepent labels for free! They already have an enormous amount of music online and their repertoire grows daily. The service comes in three flavors: Free, Paid an Premium. Free already gives you total access to all songs available in your country and is financed by adds, of which i haven´t seen single thing yet, all encoded in 160 kBit/s. You can upgrade for 10 € a month and get ad-free 320 kBit/s encoded music, which then will even work offline. With that service you also get an app for your android, windows or apple mobile device which will sync with your PC client. The music you like can be stored in playlists and is available on the fly once you start the program. Since Spotify isn´t available for all countries yet, you either have to set up your own proxy or use this site, where someone was so kind to program a script that logs you in frequently to make Spotify think you´re from france. More info on the Spotify homepage and on wikipedia, enjoy!
