Great Album & Gimmick Concept

If you know me, you also know I am always ripping on the music industry for totally failing on the copyright side, plus totally failing the artists needs and interests. You know why? Their biggest mistake was being so greedy to make music digital in the first place. Everybody who loved music already had loads of vinyl records, but the music industry implied that their quality was poor compared to the CD. They even started not producing certain stuff on vinyl anymore, because they wanted you to buy a feckn CD-Player and their bull CD's. Then the mp3 came and everybody was outraging. And now, for the last ten years they don't come up with anything but complaints. I say they need to come up with something creative to make it cool to have the original music and not only a copy of it. But what to do? I have my own ideas to that matter, so if you're a major label reading this, make me an offer i might tell you some things! But what i tell everybody for free is that these guys did it right! It took me less than a minute to go ahead and buy the album plus the player without even listening to the music, great job! And by the way, as it looks to me, vinyl will outlive CD's sooner than you might think...

Do You Still Have A Record Player?

6a00d8345250f069e201310fbb5a20

For all the peeps who don't have a record player anymore: get this an you can still play anything you find on vinyl. Just joking but i must admit it's a nice concept. I found this here, thanks to Flo who pointed my attention that way. This concept was recently used by GGRP but the original concept was by GRP and those players were used all over the world where electricity was rare. You can find GGRP's 50's style promotional video here. Enjoy! More record players here

Futurestates - Visions Of Our Lives

Bildschirmfoto_2010-03-15_um_1

Futurestates is a project on visions of the near future. The concept reduces to america, but i think you can see europe, some asian countries and russia as well in this picture. Some days ago i made this post which includes the vision stated in the video below. This as well is the only video i watched so far. It was created by David Kaplan and Eric Zimmerman and the first part reminds me of the Video to The Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up. Enjoy, and make sure to visit the projectsite and watch them other videos as well!

Gurus Nephew On The Current Situation

As you all might know Guru of Gang Starr recently suffered from a stroke and was / is in a coma in a New York hospital. Little is known about the exact state Guru is in and as you can hear in the video above not even his family got any infos. The only one who knows what's really going on is Solar (Super Producer as he calls himself). In the state of New York you can appoint a Health Care Agent which for Guru is his producer Solar. For all the details see the video above, where Guru's nephew speaks out on how the family won't get near Guru or get any news on his situation. When i met Guru for the first time i as well met Solar and i must say that I didn't like solar from the first second i met him. I think he didn't even shake my hand, even though i was the promoter of the concert who was supposed to pay him. In an interview after the concert solar wasn't answering anything if he wasn't adressed as "Super Producer" Solar. As well Guru wouldn't talk a word about Gang Starr and he only signed some guy his Mass Appeal 12 inch after Solar left the room, when Solar could see him, he wouldn't. So I must say that there's something strange going on in their relationship. To me Solar is nothing, he produced Guru's last Albums, but without him on the mic it just would have been another semi-dope HipHop Album. Solar get's his hands deep into Guru's pocket, because he ain't got no fame himself. I'd advise him to get a own life and to take the info he has about Guru to where it belongs: Guru's family! Fuck those interviews he wants to give to everybody! Get well Guru!

Since there is always two sides on a coin, here's what Solar got say on the subject.

The Future Of Games

This video is a presentation by Jesse Schell ex imageneer at disney studios and Carnegie Mellon professor. He holds a lecture on reality layers in games at the DICE 2010. Schell gives an insight on how facebook games got so successful  and why especially you are playing mafia wars or farmville. He draws a vison of the future of gaming which quickly turns out to be a vision of our lives. I really advise everyone to take 28 minutes of your precious time and watch this video, since i can only agree with what G4tv.com says: This is mindblowing, enjoy! via nerdcore

Nice Decoration @ Treibgut Hannover

Finally, the video is online! When we celebrated the anniversary of my event Linden Love, little did we know the Filtertÿpen (in fact Kiatone) would take our projection idea to the next level. As well the guys built humongous letters for their stage as a backdrop. I´ve been there and i must say, even though I don´t like techno music, it was amazing. Enjoy!

USB Record Player Study

Bildschirmfoto_2010-02-08_um_1

This is something great! A record player powered by your average USB-Port. Unfortunately it is just a study. Similar things are the Vinylkiller which will not treat your precious records to well or the Sound Burger which would still be my top-choice if I would own one. Anyways i would buy this and prefer it over my GP-3. via Gizmodo and Pyott Design

Lego Guns, Yeah!

Bildschirmfoto_2009-12-07_um_0

A friend of mine got a replica of an AK-47 it´s fascinating. But these here are awesome! "Fully" functional models of various guns built from Lego. You can either order kits with all required parts or just the construction manual for various discontinued models. I found this linked from a link on nerdcore, where you can read a story about a guy having a visit from a swat team for assembling the "gun" in his office. My favorite is the Semi Auto, so if want want to give me a nice christmas present...
